Holmdel Township is a rural suburban community located in Central New Jersey. There are several large open-space parks and recreation areas.

History was made here in 1964, when Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson of Bell Labs discovered the cosmic microwave background radiation, which verifies the "Big Bang" theory of the creation of the universe.

Holmdel high school consistently rank high in the county and state, attracting many young families to move in when they have children attending school.
